Episode #225 with Dr. Tony Brooks.

By Posted in - Book Review & Guests & Military History & The Show on October 22nd, 2020

Dr. Tony Brooks joins us tonight on Stew and The Nunn show. Tony is a former U.S. Army Ranger, turned Doctor.

Tony uses his Ranger leadership training to teach powerful lessons by sharing stories of unrelenting teamwork and driving, selfless determination that demonstrate a commitment to service above self. Tony is a licensed chiropractor in the state of Washington, helping people improve their health with diet, exercise, and chiropractic adjustments.

Tony grew up in the Sacramento valley in the town of Roseville, CA. He was a normal unassuming, yet driven young individual. He quietly excelled in the classroom and athletics in high school. After high school, he enrolled at the University of Arizona in Tucson. During his first month in college, an event that is ingrained into most American’s minds took place. The month was September and the year was 2001. That day forever changed him, his mindset, and his drive to serve something greater than himself.
In January of 2002, Black Hawk Down was released and he watched it with a few of my fellow fraternity brothers. This movie brought back the memories of his brother growing up and telling him all about how “bad ass” Rangers were.

In 2003, he enlisted as an 11B with an option 40. This was how the military designated an infantryman with the option to become a Ranger. Due to the powers that be, my basic training date was for February of 2004. I had a year to prepare and it looks like he prepared pretty well. Tony lives in Seattle area with his amazing wife and two children.

Tony spent his very first combat mission in the mountains of Afghanistan. During that operation, his element recovered a crashed MH-47 chinook helicopter and 20 missing service members in a tragic mission that is depicted in the major motion picture, Lone Survivor starring Mark Wahlberg. Following that experience, Tony deployed to Ramadi, Iraq in 2006-2007. He is now finishing up his first book titled Leave No Man Behind, which is scheduled to be released in May 2021. This book will tell the untold story about the famous rescue of Navy Seal Marcus Luttrell.
