Douglas Taurel joins us tonight on Stew and The Nunn. Whether it’s performing his one-man show to audiences around the country or his appearances on some of television’s most acclaimed series, Douglas Taurel, always gives his best. His resume is seasoned with roles from the stage to the silver screen and continues to grow. It’s not surprising that the media have called his work ‘flawless,’ ‘powerful,’ and ‘compelling.’
Taurel’s solo show, The American Soldier, has been touring across the country for the past two years. What started off as a project to honor veteran and their families, has turned into something much larger and more meaningful than he ever imagined. The play is based on real events and actual letters written by veterans and their family members from the American Revolution all the way through current day Afghanistan. The American Soldier has been nominated for the Amnesty International Award for theatre excellence, received 4 stars internationally, been featured in The Huffington Post, The Washington Post and Time Out to name a few. The American Soldier has performed to over 15,000 audiences and veterans and in over 16 cities and 11 states with notable spaces like the Kennedy Center (2016 & 2019), Off-Broadway, Library of Congress, American Legion’s National Headquarters, New York Federal Reserve Bank and nominated for an Amnesty International Award. It explores the bravery our veterans and families face day to day as they return home from combat and brings awareness for the sacrifices.

Douglas has no created a new web-based series called Landing Home. Landing Home is a seven-part series that tells the compelling story of a veteran trying to adjust to civilian life after leaving the military.
The series was inspired by the Off Broadway play, The American Soldier,which touches on many aspects of war but primarily explores the sacrifices and challenges our veterans and their families face as they return home from combat. Landing Home is a seven part series that takes the audience into the mind of a combat soldier and pulls back the curtain on the lasting damage of war.
